LA Time’s correspondent Booth Moore reports on the NYC Fashion Week experience:
Maybe it’s the grow-your-own food movement, the popularity of farmers markets, or simply the fact that these are spring collections, but botany is sprouting up as a theme all over the runways.
Carolina Herrera took colors, prints and floral appliques from 18th century botanical plates for her collection, which included a gown hand-painted with the image of a flower, along with its name and species.
For her Garden of Eden-themed collection, Monique Lhuillier worked with cherry blossom print taffeta, draping it into a pleated A-line cocktail dress and a ball gown. (Also spotted: “sage green,” “mint floral” and “poppy” organza.)
At Donna Karan, shoes were decorated with leather leaves and gauzy long slip dresses were “saffron-stained” and “tamarind-distressed.” A rough-textured, jute-colored nubuck jacket was reminiscent of a seed sack.
Jenny Packham, who is fast becoming a favorite of the red carpet set for her lovely gowns — many of which have sleeves, for those who care about that sort of thing — tapped wallpaper specialists de Gournay to design the moody, hand painted florals for her finale gowns, one in a silk crepe de chine with a beaded tulle shoulder.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley Signs on to Transformers 3 and Burberry Interactive Campagin

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is having the best week ever! She has been signed as Megan Fox’s replacement in Transformers 3, is enjoying a budding romance with actor Jason Statham and now Rosie Huntington Whitely is fronting Burberry’s first evert fully interactive campaign.
Fans will be able to get up close and personal with the Victoria’s Secret model using motion responsive images and video that can be clicked, rotated, paused and dragged 180 degrees.
Fresh-faced Rosie, 22, strikes a sultry pose, sporting Burberry’s new collection including leather and sheepskin inspired by aviator chic, in a series of images co-starring models, actors and musicians shot by Mario Testino.
This new campaign will prove to be the first of many of its kind.
Elle, Not Camera Shy, Embraces Reality TV

Elle Magazine has taken a different approach from some of its predeccesors and is embracing reality TV instead of shunning it.
According to the New York Times, “Elle, perhaps more than any other magazine, has embraced television as a way to enhance its brand and broaden its audience. In 2004, the magazine’s fashion director at the time, Nina Garcia, appeared on the first season of Bravo’s “Project Runway” before anyone knew it would be a success.
A job at the magazine was the top prize on the CW reality show “Stylista,” which ran in 2008 for just one season. Later that year, cameras from “The City” were invited into Elle’s offices on the 44th floor of Paramount Plaza in Midtown. They have remained there pretty much ever since.
The magazine is certainly exposed in more ways than one on “The City,” which has attracted an average of 1.6 million viewers so far this season. There are often close-up shots of the Elle logo inside its main office. Computer screens in the background display Elle.com. The most anticipated fashion week south of the equator Sao Paulo Fashion Week in Brazil proved to be a ‘haute’ week from Jun 9th to June 14 2010.
Brazil’s designs for the 2010-2011 summer season included the inevitable sexy bikinis – as well as intricate and beautiful headdresses capturing the cutlure of the country. Some of the worlds hottest models strutted their stuff down the elaborate catwalk draped in some of the most finest couture.
Gisele Bundchen, the Brazilian beauty and the world’s highest paid model,made her first catwalk run since giving birth to a baby months ago with her husband, U.S. football player Tom Brady. She returned to the runway to present Colcci’s Summer 2010/11 line.
Hot celebrity and socailite Paris Hilton also hit the runway in Sao Paulo, presenting the Triton Collection.

It has only been about six months since she gave birth, but that didn’t stop Gisele Bundchen from wowing the crowds on the catwalk recently.
The supermodel took to the runway as part of Sao Paulo Fashion Week in her native Brazil and as we’re sure you’ll agree, she looked as stunning as ever!
Modeling for the label Colcci, which she has worked with before, the 29-year-old donned a series of gorgeous outfits, many of which included semi-transparent sections of patterned, voile-like material.
According to Brazilian newspaper Estado de Sao Paulo, Gisele said: “I was very nervous. But I am very happy, everything went right.” Read more…
‘Fantastic Man’ follows up with one ‘heavy’ issue

For its latest issue, European men’s magazine Fantastic Man ventures into the much unchartered world of the plus-size male model for the first time.
There’s been such a large amount of blog chatter surrounding women’s magazines’ semi-embrace of plus-size models in recent months, but it’s Fantastic Man’s that’s highlighting a larger male model for its 11th installment. Men’s mannequins may be slimming down significantly this season, but over at the oh-so-chic title from the team behind Butt magazine, a male model with a sizable stomach and softness around just about every edge is front-and-center in a fashion editorial. “A series of stylistic suggestions for bold summer fashions to be worn by gentlemen of quite marvelous shape,” reads the display.
